Since macbeth does a shoe with mike dirnt we hit up Jimmy the Pimp and had him get us some tix to the Green Day show last night in sandy eggo. I’ve been a Green Day fan for ages, since the Kerplunk days, so I’ve seen my fair share of GD shows. They’ve always been great showmen and have pushed the envelope for “punk” performances and last night was no different. Well, maybe it was a little different.. it was the hugest rock show I’ve seen… almost EVER. The set started at 8:15 which was a little earlier than I expected, and we actually missed about 3 songs as we were “pre-gaming” in the parking lot. but I digress… They played for almost 3 hours, covering everything from Disappearing Boy all the way to American Eulogy. In fact, they played 3 songs from the old days that I’ve never seen live so it was more than a great night. The awesome lighting, pyro and stage set up are dwarfed by the bands performance, Billie Joe holds the audiences attention like a car crash running from side to side, back and forth all while belting out anthems with flawlessly. One of the most striking things about the show was the crowd.. it spanned from 5 years old all the way up to 40 years old, fathers, sons, mothers and daughters all enjoying their first punk rock show and their 1,000th punk rock show. (This last fact did make me feel a little old and I wished I had brought my daughter) I think the tour is almost over, but if you can.. GO. It won’t disappoint.

Andy Kessler, RIP
June 11, 1960 – August 10, 2009

The death of legendary NYC skate pioneer, Andy Kessler, continues to spawn countless media reports of Andy’s enormous contribution to skateboarding. In order to celebrate the life and inspiring times of Andy Kessler, skaters will congregate tomorrow evening at Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s Autumn Bowl, one of Andy’s favorite skate spots. In addition, his burial is scheduled for this Sunday at the Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.

Thank you Les!
